I did have a conversation with someone at Tony's Trains in Vermont. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I also liked the fact their 1-800 number worked from Canada. Frankly, I'd like to buy from someone I can rely on to call if I run into difficulty.
-from online forum |
I purchased my NCE material from Tony's Train Exchange in Vermont. Tony has very knowledgeable technicians on his staff to help you.
-from online forum |
I contacted Josh at Tony's Train Xchange (1-800-978-3472) and he has been a tremendous help to me in answering all of my questions about the change-out. Josh will be a big help to you and I know he will have all the answers.
-from online forum |
However if your looking for one stop ordering I would recommend Tony's Train Exchange. He has cable and connectors. I purchased a crimping tool from Tony, it's the best I have seen to date. HD had a crimping tool called the "Data Shark", it works but unlike Tony's tool does not strip the outer covering exactly perfect length wise like Tony's.
-from online forum |
I would think that you can get anything you need at Tony's Train Exchange via mail order. I'm sure there are several other sources that offer a wide range of DCC systems and services as well. I only mention Tony's because I got good service and pricing from them in the past. No connection other than that of a satisfied customer.
-from online forum |
In my case, I called Tony at Tony's Train Exchange, 1-800-978-3472, gave him the length's I needed and for $3+ for each one he made them up and shipped them in no time.

Norm,
Thank you for the phone call about my California Zephyr order. I emailed Intermountain about the cab ahead I have reserved and they say first quarter of 2009 for it to arrive. Every one at your business is GREAT to deal with!!! Again Thank you All!!!!!!! "New Jersey" Lee |
This message is for Josh and Tony. Thanks for your help. Josh resolved the reverse light problem.I am just getting into model railroading, especially DCC, and LEDs, anode and cathode are all new to me and although I have done much reading, I forgot that the 2 wires have to be connected to the proper 2 output tabs. Switching the wires resolved the problem.

Hi Tony,
I received the decoder on Saturday at the post office. Thank you very much. I did not expect to be compensated for the shipping to you, thank you again. I've dealt with a few manufacturers which I had problems on warranty returns. Dealing with your firm was one of the best experiences I've had.
Thank you again,

Thanks for the very prompt shipping of the PCM I1sa engines that I had on order. It just confirms my decision to use Tony's for my model RR needs.
Thanks,

Thanks again. I just received my order of two (2) DA-SR chips and a package of LEDs in record time. I can't believe your customer service. Helpful, friendly, technologically savy, and prototypically correct. Simply put, "Awesome". Thank you and I will see you at Trainfest!

Hi Tony. Just wanted to let you know I received this week my 20th shipment from Tony's Trains in the past six months, (with 21st awaiting delivery next month) and everything has been great. I usually deal with Norm. He, and every other T.T. employee I have talked with, has been efficient, knowledgeable, and courteous. I appreciate the quality of your service, and the fairness of your pricing.

YES, Brother! The whole experience of ordering through Tony's has been great! A professional attitude with the best price anywhere. At Tony's though it's not just the price, it's the comfort of knowing you are dealing with a knowledgable staff who will help you. I recently ordered a Roundhouse 4-4-0 C&NW with sound, and was concerned about its availability. Someone named "Tony" (THE Tony?) assured me it was available and on its way. I have run it through its paces at home and at the club and it is great! So is the Lenz System 90 I ordered from Tony's a while back. Thank you for that, also! Thank you for a great job!

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for a few of your products I purchased. Let me first say my electrical skills would be at best described as average. Up until today the most complex electrical thing I've ever done was to wire a DPDT toggle switch that actually worked. I was a little intimidated at the thought of installing your products. Because of their capabilities I assumed it would be very complex. I just installed your product called the "Hare" in combination with the "OnGuard" auto reverser. That was so easy I couldn't believe it! I just can't believe I have a 100% hands free reverse loop working in my staging yard. Thanks for coming out with such great products.
Tom M. |
Thank you for the exceptional service on my last purchase. Invoice #[].There were no additional charges whatsoever. The addition of your booklet in my first order was greatly appreciated, and the additional wait for the second item was not at all objectionable if I can save some money. I am sure we will continue to foster a good business relationship, and look forward to many more opportunities to do so.

Hello, I would like to thank Lou for his prompt processing of my recent order for two DCC Specialties PSX-ARSC Auto Reverser/circuit breaker/decoders. I called on Wednesday afternoon (2/20/08), they arrived on Friday, and I was able to install the electronics and run trains on Saturday. Wonderful! Thank you again for the excellent service!

Hi,
I have upgraded my LL GP9s; BLI E7s, SW7, and GG1. I am absolutely delighted with the results.
Thanks,

Hi Tony,
I installed one of your PSX-AR auto-reverse modules on the feed to my turntable, after having problems getting a Lenz LK100 unit to work. The Lenz unit was very unreliable, resetting and shorting all the time. When I substituted the PSX-AR, it operated faultlessly and invisibly right from the start, with no adjustment required. You don't hear any relay clacking or chattering and in fact you don't even know it is there.
It is a pleasure to use your products, they are well engineered and produced and your support and customer service is excellent.

Hi Tony,
Just a note to thank you for your help with my recent order that you shipped to my Brother while he was staying in Maryland. The plan only just worked as the shipment arrived on the day (Friday) he checked out, but luckily he had to go past the hotel again on his way to the airport, and he picked it up !! Looks like the good old USPS was not it’s usual efficient self if you shipped it on the Monday! Anyway, all was well in the end and I have my bits.
For your reference, we have a forum over here and I have left some feedback on it re Tony’s Trains, see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=15835.
Thanks again,

Tony, et al ... I had the pleasure of dealing with Josh today as I ordered a buttload
of decoders and ancillary equipment. I had my usual several
open-ended questions, and needed advice as well. Not only was he very
confident, forthright, pleasant and amiable, but also very
knowledgeable and sharing. When he was unsure of his answer or
experience (which apparently is considerable), he said so and excused
himself to seek confirmation or second opinion from the other staff
you had working on New Years' Eve day.
I have often dealt directly with Tony, and on occasion some of the
other staff. You ALL are very friendly. As Tony has his name on the
line, he is always friendly, patient and polite. HOWEVER, to have
staff who back that up....particularly when they are/can be as close
to anonymous as they wish and have less to risk/gain in customer
relations....is a rare pleasure these days, especially when the local
shops are dying out and we now conduct business from remote locales
on a growing basis.
I am usually hesitant, cautious and unenthusiastic when contacting
or ordering anything thru what I call "Internet Whorehouses"....
those who conduct most of their business over the ether rather than a
face-to-face or within brick and mortar....but I am genuinely
impressed and pleased enough to throw perfectly good money at your
outfit any every opportunity. It is TRULY a pleasure. I commend Josh
for a refreshing exchange and as an outstanding example to put forth
to your customers.
Have a GREAT New Year!

I can't say how pleased I am with the service and products. I did not have any problems with set up or operation of the Zephyr system or Loco buffer. The folks I got to talk to at Trainfest in Milwaukee helped to make up my mind about what I needed to consider in order to get the most bang for the buck.
Merry Christmas and have a successful New Year.

I have purchased and use one of your 3-rail O gauge CMX-O clean machines. It is great and I recommend it to everybody. My railroad layout (Sugar Creek Valley Railroad) is featured in the January 2008 issue of O-Gauge Railroad magazine. There is also a video of my layout (done by O-Gauge Railroad magazine) which is mentioned in my feature article. In both of these I mention the CMX clean machine and have had many questions about your clean machine, even from the owner of O-Gauge Railroad magazine.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for mailing out the LH100 throttle to me. I really appreciate your service. Incidentally, I was part of a group that purchased a large number of Sountraxx Tsunamis from you a while ago, organised by Adrian Gunzburg. Your good name and reputation goes before you, as your name comes up in conversation at the model railway club. Thanks again and hopefully we will do more business in the future.

Thanks for the reply. I now see that there are several folks in the Yahoo Digitrax Group who are also working on some revisions, apparently with your blessing. So rather than bombard YOU with multiple inputs, I have decided to join their effort. Something you should know, Tony: while the thrust of the effort is to make the documentation really easy and appropriate to Digitrax folks, it comes about because of the very high regard in which you and your company are held. Unquestionably, the thorough work on documentation, superior products and unsurpassed service you've provided have resulted in very loyal customers. And on top of that, they even think you're a nice guy! Have a great day.

| The four PSX circuit breakers and two auto reversers I purchased from you some 12 months ago (creating 6 separate power districts) have now all been installed and are working brilliantly. Absolutely magic!! I will be buying some more of these for stage two development perhaps in about 12 months time.

A quick note to report how delighted I am with the 'REV N' version of the 'Hare'.
When coupled with NCE's powerful, yet elegantly simple 'macro'
system, the Hare provides a level of flexibility and set of
capabilities that is simply unmatched in the hobby today.
I'll be back for about 25 more 'REV N's' as I continue to convert my
layout to this product.
Thank you for a highly innovative, labour saving and affordable
device - keep 'em comin'!

Tony,
Bought the QSI Programmer and 7 chips at the booth. Great staff and very helpful. Downloaded files, installed and programmed the chips this weekend. WOW - great job! While it was a very long wait for some of the sound files, it was worth the wait. Thanks again for such good work!

Hi guys,
Just a quick note to let you know that with your help, I resolved the conflict on the PSX-AR units I have. I double-checked the wiring and it was okay. I took your advice and jumpered J6 3-4 on both units because I'm running larger gauge trains with high voltage lamps, etc. That's what did it! My DCC-converted loco runs through both reverse loops as quiet as a mouse with no hiccups. Those PSX-AR units are worth their weight in gold! Keep coming out with new state-of-the-art electronics for model railroading!
Thanks again,

Tony,
I own the HO CMX+ track cleaning tank car and just love it. I use the corduroy upholstery fabric for cleaning pads supplied with CMX+ tank car and use the great ( but smelly..lol ) "Lacquer Thinner" for the cleaner. As the CMX+ is made of brass the lacquer thinner does not hurt the tank car, nor the metal wheels supplied but disintegrates crud on the rails and leaves no residue whatsoever. My trains run great on crud free rails. I have gotten 9/10 months railroading before having to clean the rails again. Thanks for the "Best" track cleaning car ever.

Hi...I ordered a bunch of QSI upgrade chips and the programmer for my BLI locomotives. I just wanted to say how impressed I was with your service. The order was well packed and since you sent it USPS, I didn’t have to pay a brokerage fee for crossing the border to Canada. Thank you very much for everything, you have one very satisfied customer.
PS: The upgrade chips are very impressive. Installed easily and the locomotives run much better ...

"I have personally seen a number of decoders reset (sometimes
partially, sometimes completely) following a
short circuit.
One explanation I have heard (but have yet to test personally) is that the
scramble is often the result of a
strong voltage spike when that energy is released.
As a side note, I have only seen these spikes happen when using PM42s and
not when we switched to
PowerShields, and after that, not since upgrading to the PSX breakers."

All my locomotives are sound equipped and yes the Digitrax AR1 gave
me a headache with its unreliability. I gave it away and replaced
it with a DCC Specialties OG-AR from Tony's Trains. I have not had a
single fault since its installation. It's working great.

service is hard to find these days. I will shop Tony's from now

Hello,
Two days ago I received my first couple of QSI Upgrade Chips and I just installed them in my 2 Wabash E7s.
I expected an improvement but I was very surprised and am very excited about the upgraded sound and running functions; this is even better than I expected and very easy to change and re-install the Chips.
My dad was a bit skeptical but he was also very impressed with the upgrade.
Congrats on delivering such a great chip for a rather reasonable price and hope the chips for the BLI E6 & BLI E8 / E9 will arrive soon.
Have a nice weekend.

Tony,
Just a quick note to say "thanks" for locating a PCM #599 4-8-4, and for keeping me informed about the process along the way. To this model railroader, this is a new way of doing business and communication is important to me. I will check with you the next time I'm in the market for HO equipment.

Gentlemen,
Just a quick note from a satisfied customer. I received my new PS-X 4-circuit circuit breaker yesterday, and installed it today in place of my existing 3-circuit circuit breaker. I purchased your new one because it was advertised as being able to handle the inrush current of sound-equipped locos, and it worked beautifully!
I am using an NCE PowerHouse Pro system, and when a short-circuit occurred, I had to shut down the system using the Emergency Stop button on the ProCab. Disrupting to the operating session to say the least! My 'acid test' consisted of shorting out the power district containing at least three sound equipped locos, removing the short, and watching the system come on automatically. This is EXACTLY what I have wanted for a long time (well, since I got into DCC). Thanks again.
Let me also thank you for the prompt shipping, and the e-mail letting me know when it was shipped. It may be a small thing, but it is appreciated.

PS - This works precisely as well as the OG-AR, with which I am also very pleased. |
Tony,
I would just like to thank you for the great staff that you have working in your Sales Dept. especially Josh and Lisa.
When I first was thinking about getting into DCC I called and Josh and he took time out from his busy schedule to help me sift through the maze of DCC mfgs and helped me select the NCE PowerCab which I am absolutely elated with. Now here comes the good part, after he told me to let him know if I need help, wellllllas a newbie of course I did, so after many e-mails later I am one very happy and satisfied customer and as far as I'm concerned as my layout grows, Tony's will grow right with me! J you are the best, good customer service, great shipping and of course great prices, thank you.
You guys are great and keep up the good works!!

I recently ordered an upgrade chip from Caboose Hobbies in Denver for my BLI on30 C-16 steam locomotive. I installed the new chip last night carefully following your instructions and the results are stunning. The upgrade chip was everything you said it would be. I appreciate the upgrade.

I've seen a
demo of one of the new 'adaptive' breakers from DCC Specialties that was
nothing short of phenomenal. We had no less than 14 sound locos
in the district - more than half of them older QSIs ... and it
recovered from a quarter test short without having to roll any of
the locos off of the track! The breaker just kept feeding the
power "slowly" until everything was running normal. And it was a
reversing section and it worked just as well when reversing. We
just could not create a scenario where the breaker would fail to
recover. So - if you've got one of those beautiful lighted Cal
Zephyrs and an ABBA set of sound-equipped Fs to pull it ... this
breaker will allow your layout to come back to life normally after
I or someone just like me blows a switch. I know -you- never do
this but you see I'm an old fart who can't see very well and so this
happens more often than I wish. So, if recovering from shorts is a
problem for you ... this is one suh-weeeeeet breaker! Jim B.

This is just a feedback for your company info. You shipped my order ref [...] on the 26th December 2006 and was actually delivered to my home in Glasgow, Scotland in the United Kingdom on Saturday morning the 30th December 2006. No doubt your company together with myself are more than pleased if not amazed with your particular shipping/posting system!!
I have with many other UK modellers purchased items from other US companies in the past which normally take several weeks to arrive. May I thank you for such an excellent shipping system.
Yours sincerely,

To Tony's,
Please accept my sincerest compliments on your great help with the placing my order (X6121125). The gentleman who assisted me, I didn't catch his name, was very, very knowledgeable, helpful and after listening to my needs, offered excellent suggestions.
Checking my order status with UPS this morning, I find that it was shipped yesterday and is scheduled for delivery today. WOW!, it doesn't get any better than that.
While I'm brand new to DCC, I've been in HO for 35 or so years and have used analog command control for almost 20 years. Given that information, he was extremely helpful with diagnosing my needs.
This order represents my basic needs to get started, but there will be follow-up orders for more decoders, I'll probably need 35 or so eventfully. A second booster with power supply and more circuit breaker assemblies plus the "speedometer" for speed matching per Mike Polsgrove.
Thank you again for wonderful service and I'll try to thank you personally at the show next month. I'm part of the Railroad Museum of New England booth so maybe I can get free for a few minutes.

To the Owner and/or President of Tony's Trains:
I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for the extraordinary effort of your employees.
Several weeks ago, my father, ordered a DCC and an engine controller, along with a horn and a whistle, for my sons twelfth birthday. The package arrived as anticipated. On birthday, September 1, we learned that my father would be sent home from the hospital with no more than a few weeks left in his life. Over the holiday weekend, both my husband and I worked with [son's name withheld] to see if we could install the controller in his DCC-ready engine. There was very little overlap in the parts identified in the engine diagram and those in the controller instructions in spite of my father's assurances that [son's name withheld] would be able to install the controller.
On Tuesday morning, I called your office and spoke with Josh Shedaker. We quickly agreed that the best way to get the controller in the engine was for me to ship the engine and controller to your facilities in Vermont. When I inquired, Josh indicated that the normal installation time was eight weeks. I then explained the relationship between my father and my son and my father's short life expectancy and asked if there was anyway it could be done in a few days. After putting me on hold for a few minutes, Josh returned and assured me every effort would be made to return the engine as quickly as possible.
Even though UPS was quite late in delivering the engine to your facility on Wednesday your staff was able to install the controller and send the engine back out the same day. During this time, Josh updated me regularly, confirming the arrival of the engine and then its departure and forwarding the UPS shipping notice.
The engine arrived back in Minneapolis on Thursday and my son was quickly able to get it running with the DCC after school. He was quite excited to show off all of the features. I told my father of our success and of [son's name withheld] joy with the birthday present on Friday of last week. Much sooner than we expected, my father's condition deteriorated rapidly on Saturday morning and he passed away on Sunday, knowing that his grandson had his DCC working.
Without the dedication of Josh and others on your staff whom I don't know, my father would not have been able to know the joy that his gift had brought to my son. Since I am unable to do so personally, I hope you will thank each of the staff members involved in getting the engine returned so quickly on my behalf. Integrity and dedication were two of my father's defining characteristics, so we greatly appreciated it when we see those traits in others.
Sincerely,
[name withheld] |
Hi Guys
Just a short appreciative note re your upgrade chip.
I have installed 4 of them, 3 in light and heavy BLI Mikados, and 1 in a BLI NW2. In every case I have followed your recommendations in setting up the CVs for low speed use of the BEMF facility, and have to say I am very pleased. 1 smph is a handy speed to run at in yard and switching operations! We all know why the features were not available on these locos at birth, by virtue of the MTH (thats Muddying The Hobby!) legal challenge, but the upgrade sorts all that. I also find the alternative chuffs to be good news.
Keep up the good work!
Kind regards,
Ian D.

I have installed and tested the unit tonight and it works fine.
Thank you for your excellent service and especially at no cost to me for the
repair and return. (Especially so given I caused the problem and the return

great service.

I have received the upgrade chips for three BLI locos and installed them. In the two 2-8-2 lights, they work flawlessly. BTW, the slow speed operation makes the chip worth the price for that alone.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Keep up the great work.

Hi Tony,
I wanted to express my gratitude to you and the others at Tonys Train Exchange for being of such great help to me in getting started in DCC. I have obtained from you several DCC equipped locomotives, an NCE system, decoders, test equipment and other items to upgrade older locomotives. Besides the different files you can access on the site, questions submitted are answered on a level that can easily be understood and you are never made to feel that you got in the way of something more important. I have found no other source for this information that matches the degree of personal touch as Tony's. In addition it was a pleasure to meet you at the National Train Show in Philadelphia. I look forward to many more transactions with you.

Hi Tony,
Recently I received an upgrade chip for my SW7, only to find it
didn't work. One phone call to you and a good discussion resulted in your sending a replacement chip which arrived five days later.
Everything now works fine and there is certainly a major improvement
in crawl speed and tolerance of none-too-clean track. Thank you very
much for your assistance and prompt action. Would there were more
dealers as courteous and helpful as Tony's Trains. Must be why I got
most of my supplies from you! Thanks again,

Tony,
Meant to tell you your improved web site for ordering is great. Obviously well thought out and it works like a charm.

Tony,
Our club - The Ohio Valley Lines (Ambridge, PA) - is just about wholly Digitrax. That is until a bit ago. We eliminated the PM-42 Power Management System Reversers and substituted your PSRev PowerShield this past fall before our Christmas Show. The difference in performance was PHENOMENAL! Drop outs are gone! Shut-downs are gone! 'Phantom' shorts are gone! We can go a whole show without a single disruption of operation at the reversing blocks. Reversals are done perfectly now. Thanks for a GREAT product.
Now, if we can only keep the operators from trying to enter a reversing section while someone else is leaving it!!
Don't get me wrong; I love DCC! But operators had better pay attention to their trains. Less chatting with the public and more attention to the train!
Very sincerely yours,
Douglas C. R. |
Hi Tony,
Chris here from Australia. Thanks for the advice - it is really appreciated.Your company is extremely helpful and is a credit to the model railroad industry. It is great to know we are not alone out here on the other side of the world.
Have a great day and cheers from Downunder.

| Just wanted to let you know
that our 0.15A Z scale trains ran FLAWLESSLY on the PSRev.
Tested dozens of times on the reversing loop and Y section. |
| I had three AR1's, two for reversing loops and
one for a turntable. The AR1 used for the turntable does the
job very well and I still use it. However, when engines exited
either of the two reversing loops they would pause and then
go forward again. No matter how I changed the settings on the
AR1 made no difference. With some consisted units, they actually
stopped and would not continue forward without an 0-5-0 push.
I have since changed the two reversing loops to two Tony's PSRev
units and I have had absolutely no pauses or stops since I made
the change. I am extremely happy with the Tony's PS units and
I know that the extra $10 bucks is very worthwhile since I no
longer have to worry about continuous running/stopping. BTW,
I also use Tony's PS
units for short protection, using one each of his PS1, PS2
and PS4 for my seven separate power sections. They also work
extremely well with absolutely no problems. Again very worth
the money I paid for them. Good luck, G. |

of Tony's products. I really don't care if there's something
else out there that can save me a couple of bucks since this
product has performed so well as so fair a price. Don't get
cheap on yourselves and then regret it later. Stick with Tony's
stuff, it really works.

I would like to thank you for bringing this
product to this side of the world. Set up was easy and the video
was amazing. Even my family was amazed by the video from such
a small package. Now because of that, I'm now of thinking about
redoing my railroad to get even more fun out of it. (this is
a good thing). So I thank you again for this cool product.

Hi Tony,
Thanks very much for sorting this - this order seems to have
been cursed! I've submitted my updated Credit Card details -
a very good idea that page,
I wish more suppliers would implement a similar approach.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year

Tony,
Speaker arrived today, thanks for the fast service. This was
to replace one I destroyed ... Soundtraxx is now installed in
one of my Atlas/Kato GP7s and it's fantastic. Again thanks for
the great service ... Tony's is best!

I just wanted to let you know
that your info on dcc was very helpful in deciding whether to
take the leap and also in deciding which system was right for
me. It is the most understandable and concise I have read on
the subject so thanks for that.

Hi,
Like to say thanks to ya all :) for the order. I had placed
a small order, not being in a hurry - Presto - Package already
arrived! I had one question about an item, that I was not sure
where the resistor went - A quick call and I spoke to a real
person - Nice to know one can call Tony's and get a real person
and a quick answer - without all the "press this and that
".
Much Obliged.

Guys-
Just a note to let you know that I solved a reverse loop problem
by replacing the MRC circuit with TTE's PSRev.
I'm running n-scale and dropping the AC down to about 12V using
a diode circuit. MRC's relay works intermittently or not at
all at those voltage levels. I had temporarily solved the problem
by jumpering out a couple of diodes to boost the voltage up,
but the solid-state PSRev doesn't seem to care about voltage
sags. Thanks for a nice product. I don't miss hearing the relay
click.

Tony,
I'd like to thank you and your staff for your patience.
I recently had to send a Kato
SD80MAC for a second ditch light repair. The initial phone
repair person (I think it was Ken) explained that I probably
had my DCC track voltage too high (e.g., ~16V with RRampMeter).
I believe for the second repair additional resistors were
added with more robust LED's. I've since taken Ken's advice
and lowered my track voltage to 14V. I've run the engine for
few hours now with no problems (Previously the lights burned
out after few minutes of operation). Thanks again.

| Tony,
Regarding the UP F units from Athearn
Genesis, if you people are not satisfied with the sound
quality and setup, and the decoders are not user frieindly,
as far as programing readback, I'd prefer to just skip these
if that is agreeable with you.
I'm too new at this to have any interest in trying to figure
out what I need to do to make things work the way I'd expect
they should out of the box. Without readback on the CVs, a
primary feature of interest for buying the Digitrax
Chief as my first DCC, I really need to stay away from
non-responsive decoders.
What is the matter with these people? Are other Genesis units
also using similar MRC decoders? Is that kind of info generally
available for the neophyte consumer? I expect that you folks
are about the only ones who even check-out the arriving new
stock. I've gotten nothing but blank stares and bs from most
standard hobby shops lately so I plan to do as much of my
business with you as I can.
It does not seem that all DCC w/Sound loco makers advertise
the decoder manufacturer, or am I just not getting the full
scoop where I get my news?
There's a lot to know, and I don't care to learn too much
the hard way. I really appreciate your looking out for the
(your) customer.
Thank you sincerely,
Gordon M. |
| The Hare
is an enormous value for the money. Our layout is currently
under electrical construction. We etch our own boards for switch
machine control and position indication. Computer operation
is also involved. Mega labor is involved. Now, I know most modelers
don't go to this length, but they don't get the reliability
I get either. The Hare has cut my install time in half
and increased my operational functionality, without losing any
reliability.
Thanks for your time. Keep up the good work. I look forward
to the reporting feature of the Hare in the future.
Bob M. |
| Hi Tony's Trains,
I have used your site quite a lot over the last year or so
and found it excellent!
I want to thank you in particular for the stationary
decoder comparison pages. I have found them very informative
and useful. I have experience of several of the decoders that
you mention, and as a result of your pages have bought the
Team Digital SMD8 decoders.
I also have (accidentally) a Roco 8-way decoder (10775).
By far the best in performance is, as you say, the SMD8.
It might help others who look at your pages to mention one
specific major difference between these decoders: some need
a separate AC supply, others don't. In my view, this is a
significant difference.
The SMD8 will switch two switch machines (PECO) together,
even when one of them is fitted with microswitches or single-pole
switch. Best regards, and thanks again for a great resource!

Hi all,
Just wanted to compliment you on your efforts to keep us up
to date on DCC products, reviews and information. Yours is always
the first place I check for reliable information, and has and
will continue to be my DCC purchase's vendor.
Good work!

I just wanted to send you
a quick note to let you know that I installed my PSRev
last night and how easy it was too. Following what was writted
in the included information sheet, I just attached the inputs
to the bus and the outputs to the reversing section. A quick
test as suggested showed all to be in good order. I then ran
my first loco over the section and it proceeded through the
section without a glitch. Next was the sound equipped loco and
it too went straight through without hesitation and no sound
interuption. Thank you for creating a great product.
With regards,
Claude Q. |
| I just wanted to say thank-you, thank-you, thank-you
for making a great product (the PSRev).
I was getting really PO'd messing around with that DPDT switch
everytime my train went into "the forbidden zone",
and even though it went through it it would make a complete
stop and then you better be on your toes to throw the switch.
My PSRev came and I had it hooked up in about 15 minutes,
I checked everything twice and then I ran a train in it. WOW!!!,
you couldn't even tell you went through "the forbidden
zone". I couldn't believe my eyes so I ran through again
after I coupled up another diesel to run double headed and
I'm impressed, no hint of a hesitation. I'm glad I was in
the Model Railroader forum to find out about your product.
Thanks again,
Bruce S. |
I wanted to thank Ken for
his help this morning. He resolved my issues with my Digitrax
system (even though repeated calls and sending the system back
to Digitrax got me nothing). Many thanks!

Greetings,
I am a new customer to your excellent firm. Yesterday I received
my DCC outfit and was pleased beyond words. Dealing with your
staff was a breeze and shipment was extremely fast. I have enjoyed
and learned from your well-designed web site for some time and
was glad to have to opportunity to order from such a knowledgeable
concern.
Thank you for your assistance. In a couple of weeks you will
be getting an order for a Broadway Limited SW-7 switcher. I
sincerely think this is the beginning of a long-term relationship.

Just a note to say thanks. I called today about a problem with

and sure enough, it worked. Unit sounds great without tripping
out. Thanks!

stuff from Australia mainland). Great service, sincere thanks.

Tony and Ken,
I was amazed when I received my Overland
Trackmobile after your technician installed the decoder. I have
to admit I did not look at the unit before I shipped it to you
for decoder installation. It's tiny. That said your technician
beefed up the pick-up, added weight and installed the decoder
and it works great. Please thank the guy who worked on it for
me. Great job....

| Tony and crew -
Just recently purchased a two section PowerShield
and wanted to let you know that I think it is fantastic. I
spent 6 weeks with NCE Support and 3 different copies of their
EB3 and never did get it to work. Dropped the PowerShield
in and worked like a champ right out of the box.
Want to also thank you for sizing the power connection holes
(In/Out) to accept 14ga. wire. I'm sure many folks would prefer
a non solder connection, but I prefer to have the ability
to use the larger wire size. However, I did solder in the
headers from DigiKey for the various other connections.
Keep up the good work. Bob D. (Omaha) |
Ken:
The Life-Like 0-8-0 with
the tender pick-up problem was received today after just a few
days in your shop. I just wanted to say how pleased I am with

time....kudos!!!!! Nice job!! Thanks so much.

Hi Tony,
I am blown away, the package arrived this morning which is amazing,
thanks for the fast shipping :-) I will definitely have to come
back to you for my DCC and other railway needs if you keep up
the shipping like that, I have very hit and miss experiences
ordering from USA at times but I always return to the people
who do it well.
Many thanks again, Keith [New Zealand] |
Thanks for getting back to me. Everything
is working fine. The Hare
is going to be a big help as we design our new layout. We really
appreciate the effort that went into designing this piece of
equipment.

Tony,
You really made my day. With my Digitrax Zephyr system, I was
having all sorts of problems programming my new BLI RSD-15.
This was my first try at using a sound equipped locomotive.
I was having a lot of problems and was in conversation with
BLI direct. I saw on your web site that the PowerPax
from DCC Specialties will eliminate my problems. Desperate to
try anything I purchased the item from you online. The PowerPax
has been nothing short of a miracle. I can now operate my RSD-15
to the full capabilities of the system.
Thank you for such great service! You have won over a new customer.
Sincerely,
John K. |
Good Morning Tony,
Thank you for your prompt response to my order.
I've been out of the 'active' model railroading loop for about
15 years because of work and a busy family life. I continued
to keep up with the technology via Model Railroader and N-Scale
magazines. I'm now to the point where I can clean up some space
for a layout (my third) and begin to incorporate some of the
new technology. With the recent windfall of my tax return, I
decided to jump in with both feet!
Your web site has been a great resource as I investigated which
system to use.
You have an outstanding reputation for products and service.
Thanks again, and I'm sure you'll be hearing from me.

Tony,
I am writing in regards to a recent order I placed directly
with you. You answered my questions, had a few of your own
and steered me in the direction for a DCC system. I ordered
a few more items and found even a few more in the box upon
arrival.
I am grateful Mr.Parisi. You can expect a future order from
me.
Should anyone ask me where to get great service, patience,
and complete confidence when ordering rest assured, nowhere
else to look but Tony's Train Exchange.
Thanks again!

is that great service or what.
Thanks a lot guys,

Good afternoon Tony,
The parcel arrived safely today - thanks. Your reverser,
one installed already, is heaps better than the Digitrax AR-1.
No comparison.

I was just working on my railroad and using
my RRampMeter. I love
this addition to my tools. It works great and is indispensable
when I am wiring and changing track layout and turnouts. Thank
you for thinking ahead and seeing the need for such a valuable
tool!
Larry B. |
Tony,
I've wired 28 turnout frogs in parallel to the output of the
OG-AR. SURPRISE!!!
It works perfectly. Now my short coupled diesels and steam locomotives
glide along the switching yard without so much as a hiccup.
Prior to installing the AR, the locos were subject to constant
stalling at the frogs. While the problem could have been solved
with relays at each frog, the wiring was simplified and the
cost minimized by using the reverser.
Thanks for making information such as this available to the
modeling community.
Fly safely,
Marv S. |
I am new to the hobby and really new to
DCC. I spoke with both Tony and Ken and they were very helpful
in helping me select the Prodigy
MRC system. Ken was very knowledgable in is direction in
the correct decoder for my Atlas RS-1 and everything fit just
like he said. Thanks again and I look forward to many more orders!!

I left the Miniatronics track cleaner I bought from you (to
go with my CMX cleaner) at the Big E on your table. Apparently
you found it, realized it had been sold to me and sent it out.
I assumed that it would probably just get put back into stock
since there did not seem to be a way to check a loose cleaner
against inventory. What a class thing for you to do! Another
reason I continue to be a TTX very happy customer. Thanks again!
Gary |
Tony,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! This is a great item [PSFour].
I shall recommend you and your products to my friends who happens
to share the same interest in model trains. You shall hear from
me again sometime in the future.

Hi Tony,
I just wanted to let you know I received my order in fine shape.
I certainly enjoy doing business with you. The only thing holding
me back now is my funding! Thank you again for making my purchase
a worry-free one. I ordered the N&W #1218 class A 2-6-6-4

I really enjoy your web site. It is very informative. I also
appreciate your keeping me informed about the status of my order
via e-mail.

Tony,
Thank you once again for the outstanding customer support &
service. I originally sought you out at the Milwaukee show because
of the comments left about your service on various forums &
BBs. I am glad I did. It was a 100 mile drive up to MKE, and
it was worth it. I can't wait to try the Digitrax Super Chief.
I saw a couple of add-ons in your flyer I want to add so I will
call soon. Thanks again from a "New Loyal Customer".

Looking forward to doing business soon -- especially with the
current favourable exchange rate!

I bought a CMX
last month after trying just about every other track cleaner
available. I should have saved my money and bought the CMX first.
I used it on the 320ft mainline and most of the yard tracks
between two GP60's (1 pushing , 1 pulling).
I am impressed.

Tony,
I just wanted to confirm receipt of my PSRev I got it installed,
and it works flawlessly. I'm a staunch Digitrax user, and a
big believer in their products, and have used them since 1997,
but the PM4 is marginal compared to PowerShield
I'll be looking to replace the PM4 with your Powershield 4 some
time in the near future. Hats off to you for a great product!

with you.
Keep up the good work!

Tony,
Thank you for your time and help getting me started in DCC yesterday.
I really appreciate your expertise in sorting out the decoder
choices. It will be interesting to get to "hands-on"
learning next. Sorry for the confusion on the web site link
info. Not sure what happened there, but for whatever reason
I had a hard time getting to that page before. In any case,
very nice site and I look forward to continuing business with
you and your firm.
Again, thanks for your time and help.

heaven.
Thanks.
Looking forward to doing more business as I continue exploring
the DCC possibilities!!! Yes---you may publish my note!!! Everyone

insight I could offer a fellow railroader!

I think your web site is great! I am going
to buy a DCC package from you within the next two weeks but
am not sure which one to get. My new layout will be 24' x 8',
running 3 to 4 engines at the most at one time. I have about
8 engines that will need decoders. I am looking hard at Digitrax
but not sure which one to get. Also the MRC Prodigy but I see
you are already having problems with it. Thanks for any help
you can be.

Hi
I don't very often write to people i buy things off - but felt
compelled this time. Last week i placed 2 orders for some decoders
- one with you for 4 decoders and an order here [in Australia]
from a place in Sydney thinking that the Sydney order would
reach me first and i could get to work on them first. Imagine
my surprise when it was your order that reached me first! 5000
miles versus 100!! I also love the email update so you know
what is happening. Fantastic service!

Sirs,
Thank you for processing my order for TCS DCC chips so promptly.

| Tony, many thanks for advising on how to
program the Broadway engines. Since we added the PowerPax
to the programming track, it is all quick and dirty to program
them on the club layout. I have one of the first Broadway Hudsons
that was almost relegated to the display shelf for problem with
programming it. One last time with the PowerPax in line and
that's all it took. We did not have to shut any of the programming
down, i.e. lights, bells, sound, etc. Well worth the added investment.
Now it is just a matter of minutes to program new engines. |
The best service I have ever received - thank you. Got a shock
when it turned up today. I have been trying to get the products
over here in Australia for 12 months. I also gave your name
to another person who has been chasing things for 7 months.
Slow as snails over here. That's why I got a shock to have a
package so soon . Excellent work.

rex Very happy customer will do a lot more business here. |

Tony,

I appreciate your prompt shipping and great service ... I'm
sure I will tell lots of people how easy it is to deal with

Dear Tony,
I'm writing to tell you how much I appreciate your employee,
Colin Rose. You may recall that I was having difficulty with
the Atlas H-16-44 I purchased through you. Colin tried working
on it at the Big E Show and, when he could not get it working
there, he took it back to the shop. Well, after many trips
back and forth through the mail, the engine was the worse
for wear and still didn't work well.
Colin was the "go-to" guy on this project and took
my disappointment and frustration seriously - to the point
of ensuring that I received a full refund for the engine.
That extra effort went a long way toward keeping me as a customer.
I value the time and effort you all put into making this
right, but I wanted especially to single out Colin for special
recognition. He went above and beyond and I sincerely appreciate
his work. As a result, I look forward to being able to do
business with you in the future.

| I too, recently purchased a CMX Clean Machine.
I use on my home layout and our club layout. Both had excellent
results!! |
Tony's,
Having always used track erasers (e.g. Bright Boys) for track
cleaning, I was used to having to give a locomotive a frequent
nudge to keep things rolling. I was a bit hesitant to spring
for the cost of your CMX Clean Machine...but in retrospect it
is the best $100 that I've spent on model railroading. The flawlessly
clean track has eliminated ALL of the nudging, and has put the
fun into operation. Thanks for providing a great product!

To Everyone at Tony's Train Exchange:
I just wanted to extend a hearty Thank You for filling my recent
orders so quickly (1 day turnaround to Eastern Pennsylvania,

Tony, I just wanted to let you know how
much I appreciate you and your staff; I have been a customer
for many years. Last Monday (3/29), I ordered (Invoice Number
[edited out]) a Lenz LH 100 Keypad based Dispatcher's Throttle
(which was on sale). I believe Shirley took my order (just the
one item); she checked to see if one was available, and she
told me that it would be shipped Monday afternoon. Well, on
Wednesday (3/31) afternoon, the Lenz LH 100 arrived at my doorstep.
I could not believe that the shipment would arrive in Fort Collins,
CO that quickly.
Thanks.

I just wanted you to know I got the Powershield, and PS Rev's
all hooked up at they worked great! I was a little apprehensive
to power up the system, but all the status LED's lit up and
everything checked out. I'm especially impressed with the PS
Rev units. There is no noise, no sparks, and no hesitation crossing
the reversing gaps. It works as advertised.
Thanks

Hi Tony,
Received my CMX a few days ago and it works great, I have 1ea
of most of the cleaners on the market and the CMX is the only
one that really, really works.
A suggestion that I think should go on the instruction sheet?
I have only steam power and its all brass! Good looking and
in general runs well but none of the engines pull worth a damn.
Found that if I removed the tension springs from the cleaning
pad and just let the weight of brass block do the work with
the velvet pad, that I had little problem with slippage even
on my steepest grades! Cleaning power did not suffer much?
Regards Dave W. |
| I absolutely love the PSone and PSrevs I got from you they
made my wiring life so much easier! I would highly recommend
these products to anyone even rank beginners like myself! |

Hi Tony,
More importantly, I want to thank you. Your response was professional
and very encouraging. Your competition is miles beneath you.
You would be amazed at the very poor responses I received from
other so-called "brass DCC repair experts." There
is certainly a wide disparity between the good business people
and the not-so-good business people.

| My club just recently purchased our first DCC system from you fine folks. However, when the system arrived on the day of our club meeting, we set it up only to find that the system was defective. After realizing it only had one antenna instead of the required two, we called Tony's to inquire about the other antenna. Tony's sent out a replacement antenna within the hour via priority mail. We finished setting up the system, and couldn't get it to work very well at all. Most if not all the buttons on the cab wouldn't respond when pressed, and it would often hang up after the cab was unplugged and plugged back in. We called NCE for some troubleshooting advice, and were told that the unit was defective, and we would have to ship it back at our expense. So we boxed the unit up and sent it on it's way, hoping to have a new unit soon. I decided to call Tony's to see if there was another option, as we wanted to get the DCC system up and running fairly soon. Tony himself answered the phone. After explaining the problem, Tony offered to pick up the cost of shipping the old system, and send us a new system via UPS orange label. Our new system arrived two days later, and works GREAT! We just wanted to thank Tony and the other employees of Tony's Trains for the fine customer service. We plan to purchase ALL of our remaining DCC products exclusively from Tony's and will gladly tell ANYONE about your great customer service! Thanks again for your help.

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that I have the RRamp and your Powershield. Anybody who runs DCC and who doesn't have these two devices is really missing something. The Powershield has made my life easy and the diagnostic capability of the Rramp is outstanding. Well done! Thanks for looking out for us DCC users.

Hi Tony and greetings from Australia.
Just a quick note to let you know that the CMX track cleaner I recently ordered has arrived safely.
Thank you very much for your great service and, I am very pleased to say, what a great job the CMX has done of cleaning my tracks.
This is a real quality product and you guys are to be congratulated. Many, many thanks once again.
With kindest regards,

| I recently purchased a Power Pax programing booster from Tony's,
but could not get it to work. After a couple of phone calls
Tony said he would send me a loaner command station and I should
send my command station to him. It turned out that the problem
was in my equipment. Tony found it, and sent the command station
to the mfgr who repaired it free (even though it was 3 yrs old).
Now everything works the way it should. Now that is real service.
Again THANK YOU Tony and every one at TTX and also NCE for the
fine service. John S. |
Hi Tony,
Received steam decoders yesterday! Can`t wait to try them out! A big thank you for the excellent service from you and your staff. Look forward to dealing with you in the future.

Hi Tony,
It was a pleasure speaking with you this morning! Once again, I gotta tell you how nice and especially content-full your website is -- much more than the required minimum just to sell product.
Thanks again, Bob |
Hi Tony and greetings from Australia.
Just a quick note to let you know that the Bachmann 2-6-6-2 loco arrived here safely on Friday afternoon. That's amazing ...... you guys shipped it on 9 January and it arrived here on 16 January ..... WOW!! (I usually allow around 9-14 days for items to reach Oz so 7 days is close to a record!).
Most importantly, I'm happy to let you know that the loco runs magnificently.
Special thanks to Ken, too, for his great customer service and support.
Cheers from Oz ......

PS: I like your site, it's very straightforward, easy to navigate, and I like all the comparisons. It seems as if you are actually trying to help your customers (or potential customers) make the best purchase for their money. Far too many retail businesses are all too happy to sell an item, but are terrible when it comes to helping you when and if you have problems with the product.

Tony:
First let me thank you for everything you have done to try and fix this problem which was clearly Digitrax's problem and Not TTX's. It's this kind of customer service that separates Tony's from all the other box movers on the net. That said, I am going to reiterate both the problems, and the steps I have taken to alleviate the issue so you are more clearly informed as to the problem so you may better provide a solution. |
Tony,
Thanks for calling today with the information I requested regarding the remapping of the bell and coupler sounds on the BLI 2-8-2 engine to the NCE throttles. Setting CV35 to 16 and CV37 to 4 worked perfectly. Thanks again for the help. Hope to see you in Springfield.

Your page more helpful than any other one I have found ie DCC etc.
Thanks much

Thank you very much for your help in getting me started with a most excellent DCC system. I also appreciate the on-phone help & expertise shared throughout the selection process. I don't recall who helped me with my order but he did a great job of helping me understand my actual needs and listening to what I wanted. You are the real DCC experts!

Thank you for the prompt delivery of the decoder installed RS-1. I received it Dec. 24th. Thank you for the excellent service.
Ed W., Oaklyn, NJ |
To all the great folks at Tony's - Happy Holidays. I want to thank you folks for the great job in getting the decoder installed in the New RS-1 we purchased. The decoder was set up in the exact scheme we use at the railroad club. This makes things a lot easier for us. Just thought I would let you know that we really appreciate your service. Happy Holidays to you all.

Hi Tony,
The above order arrived today so I can spend the Christmas holiday converting some more locomotives to DCC. Thanks again for the good service, I'll be ordering some more decoders from you in the new year. Hope you all have a good Christmas and a prosperous 2004.
Nigel J. |
Thanks for posting the info about these locomotives. It shows that you want your customers to be aware of issues even if it might slow sales.

I received this order on Friday, October 3. That is remarkable considering two postal systems and Canada customs were involved. I am very happy with both your service and your price for the item, and will be dealing with you again in the furture.

Hi Tony,
I'm just starting out with DCC. I must have read a million pages of stuff all very confusing until I came across your web site. Fantastic! Can you suggest a decoder for lighting passenger cars? Is there a combined lighting kit/decoder available?
Thanks, Scott (Australia) |
Tony,
Just a quick note. TTE's PSRev auto reversing device is great. I struggled so long with the Digitrax version, with all the cumbersome wiring and soldering. I used to watch my locomotives approach the rail gap and hold my breath, hoping for a successful and uninterrupted pass.
I have not had any problems since I scrapped the Digitrax PM4 unit. The PSRev unit went in simply and has performed flawlessly. Now I don't even think about the fact that I have two reversing sections and no more noisy "click".
Thanks for a great product!

Just a short note to advise that I have received the above here in Australia - took about 10 days to get here. Absolutely agree with Larry Maier's review of the decoder but am more than pleased that I can get an 'O' scale decoder for $US50.00 even if I don't use the sound!!!! I will be using the sound along with Maier's suggestion that a resistor be fitted in series with the speaker lead. I guess one of the advantages of 'O' scale is that the big sound from this decoder leaves you in no doubt that a loco is coming.
Once again very pleased with your service and more than happy with the decoder notwithstanding its limitations. Keep up the good work.

The first engine with ddc was fantastic. This can really bring a switching layout to life. Here is my order for a second engine with ddc.
Terry F. |
I am very happy with Tony's PS ONE (actually PS TWO in my case) and PS REV units as well. For all the problems you read about with you know who's PM4 and PM42, I have yet to have a problem with Tony's PS REV. Secondly all the problems you read about melting wheels and burning out switch points and contacts, both the PS ONE and PS REV kick out so quietly and quickly it is amazing. And as soon as the problem is removed (including your old friend the run through switch) they kick right back in.
Jack C. |
Tony,
It's 9:00 pm Saturday evening and I just finished installing completely your decoder and the DDC unit. Everything went together just fine. I had to re-bend the bottom portion of the front actuator rod. It took only one adjustment because it wasn't quite vertical. Also, it was nice to have the DDC driver board pre-wired. It saved time and possible wiring mistakes. Not all of us work every day with such small wire in close quarters.
The decoder runs real smooth and the couplers work flawlessly. This combination is a real winner. As with others, I'm waiting now for the next DDC unit to be released. Any word as to when and which loco? Keep up the great service and thanks for your effort in bringing useful and quality products to our select and specialized DCC train hobby.

Just a BIG thank you on my switcher with the DDC couplers. It works as described and the workmanship looks great. "Isn't DCC great." Also received My GG-1 from BLI, runs great and sounds better.
THANKS again,

| Hello Tony: I received the package yesterday. The Lenz Set 100 was very easy to set up and I was running in less than an hour. I had never used a DCC system before this one. I have a new Roco Diesel with a (ESU) Loksound2 decoder, that I have been waiting to hear. It really was great to hear it. It is also my 1st DCC equipped locomotive. Thanks again. Greg King from sunny San Diego. |
Tony,
PS4 arrived, I hooked it up, and it's wonderful! I can't believe I waited this long. The hardest part was putting in rail gaps and electrically separating the sections of the railroad. Now my Mikado with Soundtraxx won't shut off every time I derail another engine in the yards (or anywhere else on the layout separated electrically). Great product.

Hi, Tony and greetings from Australia. I am happy to let you know that all recent orders have arrived safely here Down Under. Thank you for your really great service, advice and support - it is very
much appreciated.
Cheers for now,

I just received a SW 900/1200 from Tony's Train Exchange (Father's Day Present) with the new DDC
uncouplers from the "DCC Deveplopment Group". Wow! Looks great (they use the KD 58's) and so far
works very well. Couple up and pull or push the train. At the spot you want to drop the car(s), hit F1 for front coupler or F2 for rear coupler, the coupler depresses and drops the cars. Really adds a
whole new dimension to operation and seems to work flawlessly thus far. Particularly good for yard operations. |
Tony
My order arrived in good order and condition on Tuesday 1 July, here in Western Australia, which was only 5 days after being posted. Thanks for the great service, and I look forward to future dealings as my little Empire grows.
Cheers

Dear Tony's
I received the N-scale Life-Like 2-8-8-2 with the load-comp decoder you installed, a couple of weeks ago. Due to responsibilities around the house I just had a chance to run it yesterday. I just wanted to let you know that this engine runs beautifully. I had about 30 empty hoppers behind it and the slow speed was incredible.
I wanted you to know how great the engine was and to thank you.
I'll be ordering again real soon.
Thanks again

| Thanks. I really appreciate the quick response to my question about the pricing. This is what makes you a "great" business to deal with.
I will be back shopping more with you in the future.
Thanks again! |
Hi Tony,
I downloaded your message about half an hour ago. I took the cover off the black box and sure enough the coupling between the two layers was disengaged. It appears to be quite a loose fit.
I put the two together and wired up the whole set-up. I got the required screen and tried my one and only decoded loco. It seemed to work. So keep your fingers crossed. More thorough testing tomorrow morning. It is now nearly eleven o'clock in the evening.
Honestly, I am well past the age when I used to drive my car on two wheels round corners. I promise you when I took the whole kit to my chum on Friday evening, I drove quite sedately in both directions.
Perhaps the parcel went through some air turbulence whilst in the post. Many years ago I was a pilot in the Royal Air Force, so I know what turbulence can be like.
Many thanks for your extremely prompt reply to my Mayday call. Another feather in your cap. Well done. |
Tony,
The BLtd Hudson and Lenz system came ahead of schedule. Love 'em so far but need to learn more about CVs, that's for sure. Thanks for the great service. I'll be back!

Dear Sirs,
It may have been midnight, last night, for you but it was eight o'clock in the morning here in England when your letter and DCC Information dropped through my letterbox.

A big pat on the back to everyone at your end. Well done.

| Dear Tony's,
I received my first order from you the other day. The reason it has taken me a few days to drop you a comment is that I've been having too much fun playing with the new stuff to stop and compose a note.
First, I want to thank Tony for taking the time to help me with my DCC system purchase decision. Tony was courteous, extremely knowledgeable, and mercifully patient. I had NCE Powerhouse Pro wireless in mind when I called. After determining my wants and system requirements with a few simple questions, we ended up staying with the NCE system. I was impressed at how Tony reinforced my decision without downplaying any of the other systems. In my opinion, the fact that Tony's handles ALL of the major systems is why I chose to call you in the first place.
I had a test loop ready to go in anxious anticipation of the UPS guy. Between the good written instructions from the manufacturers and from Tony's, I was hooked up and running on the loop in very short order (thanks, in no minor way to Tony not letting me neglect to order a transformer to use with my new DCC system). The Tony's XFR(8) is great, and I especially appreciate the circuit breaker protection. (By the way, is it ok to use the 2 amp breaker on the 120VAC side as a main system on/off switch?)
My main delight, though, was the sound decoder equipped diesel. This was my first time ever so much as seeing (I should say hearing, I suppose) HO scale diesel sound so I didn't much know what to expect. Talk about a pleasant surprise. What a wonderful experience, taking a brand new diesel custom sound equipped by Tony's out of the box, putting it on a test loop and hearing the sound. Nothing short of a knockout, and I am not easily impressed. The Soundtraxx system sounds better and does much more than I ever, ever expected it to.
As a side note, I was further impressed by the installation sheet by Tony's that even this novice DCC user had no trouble figuring out. I was pressing buttons, turning on bells, blasting horns, and flashing ditch lights faster than even I could imagine.
Lastly, I must mention the CMX Clean Machine which I had read about on your web site and ordered as well. I'll try to be brief here, but it's going to be difficult.
Keep in mind this test loop has been up little over a month and was built using brand new Atlas Code 83 flextrack. After playing with the new diesel for a day, it dawned on me to check the track cleanliness. My version of the white glove test is rubbing a piece of paper towel over the top of the rail. It was bad, very bad, and my theory is that I must have done an exceptionally poor job cleaning the flux from my rail joint solder job, and I suppose I spent a month spreading it around with an older locomotive I was playing with while perusing and researching DCC in general and Tony's site.
So, out came the new CMX Clean Machine. I spent a cup of coffee or two reading the information that came with it, and went to town. After a few passes around the test loop, I ran my finger (no paper towel) over the rail and it was a mess. Yikes, I thought, all this thing is doing is spreading gunk all over the place. Then I thought to check the pad, so close goes the drip valve, upside down goes the little tanker, and I could not believe the gunk that pad had picked up. It was a mess! So I replaced the pad and went around a few more times, the new, clean pad did its thing on this finish pass, and the track passed the real white glove test with flying colors.
This is one piece of equipment that works, and I thank you. Further, I own a precision machining job shop which manufactures small aircraft parts and surgically implanted hardware which, if I can say this without sounding somewhat less than humble, allows me to be a fai | | |
